Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Jansen Legreid is a licensed psychologist with a diverse professional background of counseling adults at any life stage. He believes in a warm, compassionate, and collaborative approach to therapy helping clients embrace their individual strengths while developing new strategies to overcome their past and present life challenges. Dr. Legreid welcomes individuals from all backgrounds and promotes a supportive, direct, and growth-oriented space built on mutual respect and trust.

Dr. Legreid received his Master of Science (MS) degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in substance use and addiction treatment from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. He then received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and completed his doctoral internship with the VA Black Hills Health Care System in Fort Meade, SD. He has practiced counseling for nearly 10 years and is a four-time VA patient care award recipient for excellence in treatment and quality of care. 

He uses multiple evidence-based approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing

Dr. Legreid tailors these approaches to each invidividual to address areas such as trauma, addiction, anger, anxiety, depression, loss & grief, life milestones & transitions, and self-esteem. Additionally, Dr. Legreid specializes in military and veteran concerns, men's mental health concerns, rural mental health treatment, and diagnostic assessment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
